I have an HP Pavilion A6234X desktop computer. The LightScribe DVD SuperMulti Drive/CD Writer that came with the computer has stopped working. I have tried to update the driver several times, uninstalled it twice and the computer tried to re-install it twice, but it is not recognized by my system. Is there a fix for that from HP, or must it be replaced? If it does need replacing do you have them in stock? Is there an external one available?

You don't need to replace your device if it stopped working. There are ways to fix this problem. In this matter, you need to visit the manufacturer's official website. From there, choose your operating system that you are currently using. This must be done to overcome compatibility errors. After you've done this, download the latest version of the driver for LightScribe. After you install this, your problem should be fixed.
First, if you use Windows 8.1, Windows 8, or Windows 7, try to run the utility provided by Microsoft. If your computer runs Windows Vista, Windows XP or a below operating system, run the Microsoft Fix it application. These tools automatically diagnose and fix common updating problems. If the error is not solved, go to Start, type Administrative tools and open the application using Administrator rights. Double-click Services, locate the Windows Module Installer and press the Start button. As a final solution, reinstall the HP Update utility.
I have a HP Download Manager installation file. When I try to install it, it says It cannot be installed in a system with NET Framework under version 3.5. I have installed NET Framework 4.0 beta version, yet it is displaying the same message.

It's possible that you need to re-install HP Update to detect the NET Framework installation again. Restart the computer after each installation to properly install all the necessary files that might be in use and then the application will work normally.
Launch the downloaded package and install the utility following the provided steps. After that, go to the installation directory, right click on the program icon and select Send to > Desktop (create shortcut).

If you use Windows XP or below you can go to Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs. In the Currently installed programs box, click on the HP Solution Center program and then press Remove. If you have Windows Vista or above, you need to go to Start, Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features. Select the HP Solution Center application and click on Uninstall.
After that, navigate HP Support page, identify your computer model, select your operating system and download and install the latest version of the HP Solution Center. Check the Frequently Asked Questions for further information.
I have tried to fix my problem without success. I talked on the phone twice with technicians and still there are pop-ups every time I open the computer. In an online program I was asked to click on HP software update which I don't seem to have on my computer. This installed HP Product Assistant on the PC. Can you help?

try uninstalling, but then reinstalling from hp.com. it worked for me.
You can find them on hp's support site (http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/support.html) don't despair if no Windows 7 drivers are listed, my experience is that Vista drivers work fine - it seems that Windows 7 is much more backward compatible than Vista was. It even runs smoothly on systems that had trouble handling Vista.
There's not much difference between them... Only some Visual Programs and some other bugs have been cleared... But why do you bother for it when you have the latest release WINDOWS 7 and also you can get Chrome OS from the open source...
